Just bought a "like new" 2001 KLX300r. Wow, what a difference in the dirt to my 07klx250s!. Now to mix and match or just stick the street plate on the dirt bike. I was looking for an 07, but this was a steal(I think?) at $2k and maybe they didnt change much from 01 to 07. How would you guys combine the two bikes to make a lightweight "frankenstein"?

 

Like you said. Just put the plate on the 300R.

 

Power, weight and/or suspension?
I guess it depends on how much you value the electric leg.
I thought the 250 and the 300 shared the same basic frame and suspension?
If that's the case, and the suspension on the 300 you bought is "better", tuned maybe, I would swap the suspension components.
Then make the 250 a 300 or even a 330 and bingo.
Job done.
And the engine and vin numbers will still mach the rego papers etc.

Just putting the plate on the 300 maybe easy enough but would ie be legal?
Of course if your not bothered about that then swap away!!
