A search should bring you more info on drilling the enricher (choke) jet if you need it.

Cycleracks rear rack and Kolpin SawPress. Haven't ridden with it yet so I may still change the setup. I could mount the saw press so the body of the saw would be on the rack but would have to make some permanent cuts off the SawPress. The saw is fairly light so it shouldn't cause any problems up like that. Don't mind the mess. Stationary motorcycle tends to become a drying rack; gaiters from cross-country skiing.

I put the bit down into the jet and when turned with the hand-held bit driver could feel it grabbing, removing a little material. I think it went down maybe 1/8 inch or less before breaking through. You'll feel it.

What IDRIDR said ^^^^. Make sure you use a pin vise (or similar tool) to hold the .018 bit. I used compressed air to blow any chips out from the other end of the enricher circuit.

Default Pilot Jet

I'm planning on having a mechanic jet the carb on my 07 KLX250. After researching here on the forum, I'm ordering the Dynojet kit for the KLX 300. According to some of the the advise I also need to get a Pilot jet from a dealer. I have noticed that these come in different sizes, 35, 38, 40...what does this mean, and how do I know what size to order? I have noticed some folks mention elevation when talking about pilot jets, I live at 500 feet and ride mostly around 500-1200 feet.

I am hoping to also "open the intake" as mentioned by several folks, but I'm not sure what that means exactly.

I also need to do something with the exhaust. The FMF seems to be popular with many of you.

I ride mostly off road, double track and some single track. I'm planning to have the sprocket changed to the 13 tooth one.

Have I missed anything?

This is my 3rd season on the bike, and my riding skills have greatly improved so that I'm spending more time in the woods seeking out technical stuff. I have other bikes to ride on the road if I want to go fast

Thanks for your input,

lg

The stock pilot is a 35. The 38 has a larger orifice. You may not need the 38 but htey are cheap and good to have around. When you are finished setting up the carb you will have turned the pilot screw out a few turns, If you need to turn it out more than about 3.5 turns then it is advisable to go to the next size jet (38). Look in the FAQ for dirtsurfers mods day or do a search of the same and you will get good info.

While this site hasn't been updated lately I feel that I should ad this.
I just installed Bill Blue's Mikuni TM33/34 carburetor on my KLX250s and this is how this great little bike should run. Starts instantly in any temperature, warms up at 1/2 choke, 1800 rpm not 3000, and has instant throttle response. My only other mod was to remove the snorkel but this is a whole new bike and the installation was easy as Bill has modified everything for this bike.
