My shift lever poked a hole in my engine case when I crashed on some rocks. I have the new part but want more protection there like the DRZ case shields that ThumperTalk sells:

Anyone know of something similar for an 07 KLX 250S?

I had to fish out 3 metal pieces and tape up the hole to get back to the road and coast down the hill.

 

Yup did that myself, lost control of a wheelie and dumped it on the street. Used side cover was 30$ and I welded the old one wich is still on the bike. If you have a jig saw you could get a piece of diamondplate from Home Depot and make one. A circle with a couple legs that can be bent around and bolt up to the engine. Or glue a circle on with silicone, Ebay has pieces of Carbon Fiber cheap.
