Klxster, thanks for the input, i was aware going into the mod that i may have to disable or remove the KACR if hot starting became an issue. So far, after a few days of riding, i have not had any hot starting issues but i will do some testing and post an update in the next few days.

Yank it out, saves more weight than pulling the pollution system, plus it is rotating mass that eats a bit of power - not noticeable, but does none the less.

FYI: I easily removed my KACR with a long drift (big punch) and a small sledge hammer. The problem is providing a proper support for the cam while you're banging away at the KACR.. I quickly created a "clam shell collar" to go around the cam to support it while "drifting out" the KACR..

Point is, removing the KACR can be done by anyone, with only a few tools..

Put the punch/drift inside cam, wrap rag around both to hold cam and punch together and tap the punch end on your workbench. The weight of the cam will drive out the acr in a few hits.

I have crs and I forgot why klx owners were doing the acr cam retiming. I thought it was for klx300 bikes since they had kickstart gear issues certain yrs. But I see ppls signature and doing the acr retiming on later ‘09 and later bikes. What does the retiming do for later klxs?

Nothing anymore. Our knowledge has made KACR retiming a thing of the past. Before we knew better, retiming the KACR was the way to restore hot starting once the MCM was done.. Now days, just pull the spring off of it or drift it off the cam and put it in the attic..
