KDX Snorkle cut?
Hey guys, besides Rimbender, have any of you modified the KDX snorkle? Cutting the bottom off, etc.? I remember reading a thread where he did something like this, but that was the end of the conversation. Anyone else do this or something like it? Got one in hand and will throw it in when the rain stops....of course, being in Seattle, that may be in July.
I did cut the stock KLX snorkel. Left approx. 1/2" on the inside. Haven't noticed any improvement whatsoever, but instead I got a small leak of filter oil after each ride.
Removed snorkel and I still get a leak. Dunno what happened, must have upset the bike somehow.
I had a lid off for a short period, but it was too noisy for me.
In short - cutting the snorkel wasn't a good idea.

Mine (kdx part) was shortened because it rubbed and left marks on the filter foam. Not sure it increased flow, couldn't hurt. I know pulling the (kdx) snorkle out didn't require a more main jet. It does on a kdx though...
Cutting the snorkels has been a mod done with other bikes through the years, where they felt it may un restrict flow a bit without too much increase in noise. The tttr250 comes to mind, they shortened both inside and out side the box.
The stock klx snorkle is hopeless

Static Pressure vs. Total, and figuring out the velocity, might actually make sense when modifying air boxes, with or without snorkles. I'm not the one to do this though. Oh well...
