That's right. If you are going to just remove it, then you can just grab the top of the snorkel and work it out. If you are going to replace it with another snorkel, like the fat boy from the KLX200, then you are better off to take off the airbox lid (just remove the obvious 4 bolts on top). It is a bit of a hassle working the snorkel in and getting the rubber lip to properly seat. It's really pretty easy if you have the lid in your hand, but to do it with the lid on the bike would be a hassle.
