I got the K&N filter for the KLX300 on my bike, it was a tight fit the first time, but not so bad now.

What changed that is not a tight fit now??

Is the KLX 300 the only K&N filter size that 'fit' so far???

Sorry for the more detialed questions, I just think the k&N filters are the best, but I also want them to seat correctly to do that job!!

I have the 300, it uses the maximum space given. It is difficult ot put the lid on and set the filter together. After a couple tries, you will be a master.

Not to get a air filter war going, but the parts and mechanic said that the K&N filter will let more stuff get through, but I wonder if they were talking about the oil filter and not the air filter.[&:]

K&N flows with the least resistance, and I like them as they are. But, the next best is a K&N with a Filter Skin over it. IMO

I like the idea of putting the crankcase breather up high under the seat, like Nobrakes did.

I was wondering about the airbox hole though. Instead of just plugging it up, could a PVC valve be added as a one-way valve to let water out of the airbox? (I know the EPA wouldn't like this, which is why that little plastic bottle at the end of the airbox drain in plugged.) I don't know if this idea will work, because I think PCV valves must be vertical to work.

Any thoughts?

While it didn't dawn on my why you would want to do something like that immediately, after a bit of thinking about it, it sure did.

Sounds like a good idea to let water out of the airbox.

The line to the crankcase, I like the idea of putting a PCV in it and putting a breather like Nobrakes did, just under the seat.

How deep is the water you're planning on riding it?

You might want to put the carb vent mod in place.

Well, I'm certainly not planning on anything like this:

Actually, I'm not planning on any significant water crossings, but then you never know what you might run into, right?

Anyway, it seems like a good idea to plan ahead, and if its good enough for Nobrakes, it's good enough for me!

BTW - I already did the carb vent mod, but I think I'm going to re-do it ... I put the tees a little too low. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
