Default japanese cdi?

I thought i remembered seeing a thread on here about the japanese klx's having a cdi unit with better ignition timing. when i used the forum search tool i could not find it so maybe someone can help. I have a 2007 kl250s that i have rejetted and done a uni filter on and am going to add a pipe and do the 13/45 gearing. my bike mostly gets ridden on the street and id like a more useable power curve (or even a power curve to start with). with that said where can i get a japanese spec cdi unit? will it even be worth it? what will it cost me? i am trying to get as much out of the 250cc because i dont have the money to upgrade for a 300/330 yet. thanks in advance

I have one it advances the timing and doesn't have a rev limit. It wasn't cheap.

I could probably find you one, I just need to know what year bike it comes from, or a part number to look for. I see them here going for around $100-150 used, so they are not cheap.

Dean, think you can use your language skills and find out what model bikes these "good" CDI's came on?

what possible advantage could a different cdi provide? by advancing the timing on such a small thumper what would be the outcome? faster rev's? more tourque? more horsepower?

It makes more power by NOT changing the timing so much at lower RPMs I think. And it has a higher rev limiter, so you can pull longer. Someone out there knows, kgwld1? Dean? I am thinking of getting one to put on with my 331cc kit and jet kit, but they are over $100 used.

You can manually advance the timing also same point, I've done both, the klx300 has about 15 degrees advance more then what we have. It moves the torque and peak power curve around. to put it simply.

Mind if I ask what part number you have? I think this a wise addition to the 331 upgrade.

Well, mine is a 2001, so it is different already. If you could look for the number, I would appreciate it. It may be a direct bolt on for me.
