Default It's been a couple weeks, let the mods begin! Suspension first....

My 2007 klx250s is patiently sitting outside my shop waiting for mods to begin. A local fella posted an ad for the DJ kit, but now he "can't find it".

While I'm waiting for the jet kit to be found, I figured the suspension was a big enough priority to start asking questions. My wr250r had terrible rebound issues, and my previous KLX experience didn't involve enough dirt to start tuning the suspension. Now that my riding is advanced, I know the rear suspension will begin to leave me wanting more.

I weigh 150lbs with gear, does anyone have a good starting point for rebound and compression on the suspension for my weight?

I'm at 140 without gear. I found stock clicker settings where okay on the rear, ended up two less compression and one less rebound. Pretty happy. The front is another story.. it's soft, very very soft. If your agressive it will wallow. It can't rebound quick enough. I'm like 6 clicks more compression damping. Maybe 5 can't remember. Its okay if you don't push it. If you go stock up front it will dive dangerously with hard braking.

Hey Pickle, interested to see what direction you go on the suspension. Especially since we weigh about the same.

KLX TECH TIPS -- SUSPENSION ADJUSTMENTS

here's a link

It's funny, after coming from the wr250r and re reading all this stuff about the klx250s. No wonder it always felt more comfortable... it was set up for my weight. I didn't adjust preload or sag on any of my previous bikes.. the wrr was the first. The are set up for heavier weight, on top of the rebound issue in the rear. Needless to say I got pretty involved in the tuning of the suspension.

I'm insuring the bike and turning the wheel to the dirt so the tuning begins today!
