insurance question from a noob
im going to get my bike on friday, i dont care what i have to do...im just not going to get insurance or a license, what are the chances a cop is going to pull someone over on a dual sport bike, haha its not like u can speed really on a 250 unless you're absolutely trying too...i mean seriously, if i just drive normal i wont even get pulled over...no need for insurance or license...im already experienced anway, i used to race my yz 125 for three years...this is just my first experience with a dual sport...

If they do pull yaover, they probably will ask to see your license, and maybe an insurance card. I would truck it home if you could. Just my 2 cents.
New Jersey rates are so high........................$173 yearly. Rider ins. Co. 35y/o male....perfect record.
Also, in NJ to drive a motorcyle you need an endorsement on your drivers license. You keep the same DL but as you obtain new endorsements like Motorcycle or Boat, they tack on more money when you renew. It's all one big glom to the state.
We are really screwed now that Corzine put out his new 2009 State budget........it'll cost like $12 dollars to drive the parkway and $34 for the turnpike.
He's getting rid of 3 departments as a whole and laying off 3000 state employees. I've complained before on here about the cost to live in this state...I can't leave either or I would. I've been a firefighter for over 10 years and to leave all that behind would be a huge loss.
Stay safe-

As far as the endorsement goes, that too is up to you. But let me tell you, here in Washington State and soon to be in other areas, they are impounding your bike if your caught without an endorsement. And actually for years there has been a steep fine for riding without an endorsement. Here is a sweeping trend.
Penalties for riding without a motorcycle endorsement or instruction permit include up to 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, and having the motorcycle towed and impounded.

BTW, who is your insurance provider?
I have state farm... no biggie to me, the klx costs me alot in ins cause its new and stuff... yea they didnt accept the MSF course, i was taking it and had already gone one day and it was stupid i didnt learn anything, the advanced course might be better but the basic course was a joke if you already knew how to ride... so i didnt go the second day.
I have progressive and do the full coverage for $127 a yr,so it's basicly the same as yours eric.Hell if it was 250 a yr I would still pay it just to ride

Eric...I thought the basic rider class of the MSF was stupid too as i've been riding for more that 12 years but the card made it all legit for me and i got the discount.Just go and take the class.I would not suggest the ERC as the instructor will single you out and have you try stupid things....At least they did that to me.I did pass but it was still a true skills challenge.
The BRC was kind of fun and besides the bookwork you will learn something out on the "range".The serving and stopping manuevers will put you back into perspective ....especially on those crappy little zuki 250's....
