That bike brings me to a question I have always wondered. A lot of OK looking bikes, could be awesome looking if it weren't for that ugly pipe hanging down in front and under the motor. It reminds me of the old bikes that had the horizontal engines with the pipe right where it could get hit and it just looked wrong. My question is this: Why can't they make a motor like the V-Twin that has the front exhaust coming out of the back of the head so it can be more hidden? Are there bikes that have done this? I think the bikes on American Chopper and really a lot of the Harley's have both pipes coming from the rear of the front head. Why do manufactures keep doing this? Here are a couple of classic examples besides the KTM above. ???





I mean at least with the Versys they at least try to cover up the pipes, but you can still see my point right?

 

I am not sure deej, but without having gone and look at some close-ups of the engines...I think the carb is on the other side, so it has to be in the front[:-]...I will have to go look at my bike now...you got me wondering.....if I am correct, then I suspect that these new fuel-injected bikes will open a lot of doors with respect to what they can do with the exhaust to beautify the bikes.

 

Im' sure carbs and throttle bodies are more expensive and less durable than headers.
Yamaha have done it in the past. TZR250RC (reverse cylinder.)

Yes you can run the exhaust straight out the back, been done problem is heat extraction, melt your bum for starters, then carbs have to be out front ,cold lean problems, ah you say fuel injection no carbs, yes simple but the price of that will have to be passed on to you and me, and my wallet is thin enough just playing with my KLX.

 

KK can and did the April fools, Heck if I ran necked I would be shot tarred and feathered, and I would be wearing my boots and clear chest protector . Nothing like man ***** in May. Glad I don't have a hairy chest. Bandaids on my nipples.
