I called the shop

While there's plenty of information available on riding ruts cleanly, if anyone has any tips on rut recovery, i.e., what to do when you find yourself about to do down due to rut, I'm all ears.

well guys it sounds like i had the same problem as deej... i think i let mine go longer and it was alot louder than yours deej, i called yesterday to get an idea when it will be done, the mechanic said that he ordered an exhaust cam which comes with the compression release. and he said the valve clearances are off so he is going to fix them too.. He said the parts usually take about 4 days to get so i should get my bike back end of this week or beginning of next week. It wasnt the bottom end like that other shop thaught, i was kinda wondering about that, cause if it was lower end it would make the noise all the time, but if i was above 5500 rpm's it was quiet, but from like 3500 to 5300 it was "ticking" really loud... i would have my damn bike back already if i would have taken it to this shop first, but noooo... that other shop had to screw around and do nothing for 6 days...grrrrrrr...... anyway... just letting u guys know whats up... so if your under 3500 miles keep an ear out if it starts ticking, good chances its the compression release, like mine and deej's...

It's beginning to sound like we all need to stock up on exhaust cams.

This is the biggest reason I run the AC10 on the front of my bike. An aggressive front tire will hold your line better, it won't drop or slide into ruts. If you get in a rut, it will climb out with no drama. That AC10 has saved my bacon many times.
