I've never broken a bone in my 42 years, but I can imagine how frustrating it must be to open the garage door and look at the bike and not be able to ride. In my case I open the garage door and see an empty space, reminding me that my bike needs to come home. Its probably getting dusty at the shop. I should have left a blanket for her.
I am riding the wife's bike, but it feels like when you go to school for parent teacher conferences and she makes you sit in the small chairs and you feel like a giant. Oh well it still beats driving the Dodge Ram at 10 mpg around town. I wore my over the pants-pants and the fieldsheer jacket this morning as it was about 35 degrees out, and the only part of me that got cold was my ankles. I gotta get some boots, these slip on leather romeos are just not cutting it. A good black boot that goes way over the ankle are in order foe me and the wife. I think I just set a record for the most subject changes in a single post. Coffee must be kicking in.

Aside from broken ribs, this is my first bone break. Ribs are a little different, IMO. I've broken ribs on several occasions both mtn biking and dirt biking. They are a lot more painful than the collar bone. They hurt when sitting up, reclining down, laughing, coughing, and don't even mention sneezing. [:@]
The broken collar bone didn't really hurt that bad when it happened - nothing like what I expected a broken bone to be like, at least. Like I mentioned, I wasn't going that fast, just caught the rut on the right hand side and once that happens and you start heading that way, you can't make a steering correction to stay up because the front tire is up against the rut, and it washes out and you go down quick. I went off on my right side and it must have caught just right. I was on my back looking up with the wind knocked out of me and after I caught my breath, I thought maybe that that was the end of it and I had escaped serious injury. I did feel a pop on the way down, but it was not painful, so I thought maybe it didn't actually break. It wasn't till I tried to lift my arm to remove my helmet that I realized my arm would not lift at the shoulder and that it was broken.
But I've been trying to think of what the proper corrective action is once you start up against the side of a rut. And about the only thing I can come up with, aside from not getting yourself in that position in the first place, is to wheely up the front tire to clear the rut and rotate a little in the direction you are leaning to regain balance. But it all happened so fast it would take some pretty fast reaction time to do that. I've been Googling for proper rut technique, and everything tells you how to ride a rut cleanly, but nothing to tell you what to do when you are at that critical moment to avoid going down.
While there's plenty of information available on riding ruts cleanly, if anyone has any tips on rut recovery, i.e., what to do when you find yourself about to do down due to rut, I'm all ears.

well i called again, he said it needs a new exhaust cam... sounds like your bike deej, but there were other parts he had to order too, he said the valve clearances were so tight on the intake that there was no clearance, and some other things, he said he got the parts ordered, and its all under warranty. FINALLY getting somewhere with the bike, so when he gets the parts and gets them in it will be all buttoned back up and ill be on my way... depending on how long the parts take... hopefully not too long.

Hey dude, I'm curious. did you ever adjust the valves on the bike or not. Personnaly I was thinking the Rod was Knocking from the way you described it. Hopefully they will get it all ironed out for you and glad it's gonna be covered under warranty. Be sure to post what the Final verdict was on all the issues. l8tr....
