Default How to replace oil sight glass??

Current oil sight has two lateral cracks in the glass. Nothing really leaking out per se. But new one has arrived. I'm just wondering how to remove the old one and install the new one. I went to the Kawi site and looked at the diagram and it appears that it is all done from the exterior. Any suggestions? tips? hints?

Deric, Marty and Todd - I need your help!!

Thanks

Scott

My best guess is it's like a freeze plug in an engine, only as you use a socket to tap in the new sight glass you risk the chance of breaking the glass. How did it get broke?

Well, I bought the bike slightly used from Westcan and I guess it cracked when he had it. I've considered checking with the dealer and seeing if this would be covered under warranty. But if it's an easy fix, then i'll just do it myself and keep it out of the shop. I can only imagine the timeframe they'd tell me (busy season).

On beemers they just pop out like a freeze plug (once you have the engine case open, of course). I'd let the dealer handle it if you still have warranty.
