check these pages out to see what I mean about the header pipe. It's not just the size of the pipe being so tiny, it's other things that keeps the power down. But hey, it's your bike.

I'm quite happy to read your positive report on the HMF system.
I've been putting off making a decision - can't make up my mind.
There are just so many choices out there from the $79.99 EBay full system to those costing over $400.
I think the HMF comes in right in the middle of those in cost. I think it might be the logical choice. I had contacted them about the "Quiet" option. Also asked if they had performed any testing on it. They did another dyno run and found out there was an almost unmeasurable amount of power difference between the two units.
The price to HMF forum members is discounted over the others.
I might just have to be the second one here to order one of their systems.

BTW, whenever I built street motors for my hot rods, I always went with the smaller choice on intake valves and intake runners. They make all sorts of power in the "driving range" on the street. I'm betting the same thing happens here. I really don't care about 2 tenths of a horsepower at 10,000, but I sure am interested in a half foot pound of torque at about 4000 rpm!

so what I think I'm hearing is that you guys are actually recommending keeping the stock header over say, a FSW header or one including a full system such as muzzy or biggun? please correct me if I'm wrong here.
for me, revving the tiny underpowered 250 up to 6-8 grand is the only way to get any power as lower rpms' are pretty much worthless for hardcore riding. If you are saying or claiming that the oem header and an aftermarket header such as FSW, muzzy or biggun will make equal horsepower/torque at any rpms, i'd say you better lay off the crack. there are tons of tests all over proving you wrong. a slip-on is usually just a weight saving noisemaker for any bike. It helps a little, but it's the jetting that makes the difference with a slip-on. adding a freer flowing header just helps even more. this is common sense at least i thought. maybe you should contact all these companies offering full systems and tell them that they're just wasting their money manufacturing the header pipe. if after all what you say is true, what would be the point to offer them?

Anyone can take an engine a dyno and start making power at a specific rpm. When you are making tractable power across the entire rpm range, now that takes a bit more talent.

Just to correct something Iowaguy, the Staintune is very high quality, hence the price and while I haven't seen the KLX system I have seen other Staintunes and they do NOT discolour.
