Default HID headlight

Anyone try one of these on their KLX?

http://www.trailtech.net/racelight.htm

I wonder if this is illegal for the road. Too bright, maybe? Doesn't look like it says specifically - do you think it has a high beam / low beam or is just a single intensity?

That is a sweet light. Don't know if it would be street legal though. I only live 30 minutes from that outfit, and I didn't know anything about it. I might have to take a ride to their shop and check it out.

Most definitely not street legal. Better to go with an H4 Bi-Xenon high/low conversion kit for around $200 that will fit in the existing housing. Not strictly legal either but much harder to detect.

Brian,

Another way to go would be to add a pair of the Trail-Tech HID Light Assemblies to the KLX.

They only draw 13 watts each and I think the charging system would handle that.

You can switch them on when needed or leave them on when off road.

I think that will make a legal version of updated lighting for the KLX.

Thanks Todd and Marty. I don't do a lot of riding at night, but when I do the low beam is almost useless while the high beam is OK, but could be better. I kind've like the rugged looks of that race light and I'm sure it throws out a lot of light. But it's gotta remain DOT legal. Bummer.

Thanks for the ideas. The search goes on ...

Brian,

You might want to try and adjust the front headlight!
