Have you ever hit a MOOSE??

Took a cat in the face at about 40kmh. Wheelie down the drive way, just touched the front wheel down, WTF, a cat runs right in front of me, gets flipped up off the front wheel and and nearly cleans me out. Sore neck for the rest of the day. No trophy either.
Had a close call with a horse once as it galloped full chat across the road right in front of me. 2 AM, fog, me doing over a ton (MPH.) "Young, dumb and full of ***." Could of been very nasty.

Oh, and more than one close call with our local car wreckers. The lovely fluffy kangaroo.

BTW. They're NOT endangered in any way. In fact the current estimated population of 58.6 million is the highest ever (2002.)

Glad to hear you and your family were ok in the accident.... I almost hit a deer a few weeks ago riding up angeles crest highway. I saw the deer standing on the side of the road and I as I got closer, it got startled and ran across the road almost taking me out... It was a close call, luckily I was able to avoid hitting it....

My father hit a German Shepherd when he was riding on his chopper back in the 70's. Killed the dog...my dad flew about 100 feet. Broke his jaw and wrist and dislocated his toe. Had road rash like you wouldn't believe (no one heard of riding gear back then). Bent the forks on the chopper back a good bit and utterly trashed the bike.
I hit a deer last week in my RSX. Tough little car. Hit the deer at about 30-35 and punted it 10 feet in the air. Did $3000 in damages. At least it wasn't my bike or my Cobra.

Funny thing about insurance...I had a tailgater tag me at 60MPH on the way to work in April 2007. Punted me sideways down into the culvert whereupon the world rotated around me several times (I swear it was 5-6 times over, but it was probably "only" 3). Totaled my 2003 Accord. Insurance offered me $13K. Did my homework on Kelly and Edmunds and found the market value to be $17K. I refused their offer (which was from my insurance company) and went back to the other guy's insurance with my demands for $17K and change. They came back within $300 of my offer.
(I was uninjured and had a used 2006 RSX by noon the next day...I know a total loss when I see one)
Long story short: don't take the first offer. Insurance adjusters aren't paid to make you happy...they're paid to save the insurance company money on claims.
I never knew this and got ripped off in 2001 when someone came across the center line and totaled my 1997 Mustang GT. Fool me once...
