I just had this hot start problem for the first time last weekend. 2000 miles on the bike at this time. Had to bump start twice on the ride. It would fire once or twice but not catch and run.

I used to have the same problem with a vintage Triumph, (kick start), and found if I ran the idle screw up a little it would catch and run.

So, I turned the idle screw up a quarter turn on my '09 KLX and it seems to have solved the problem. In the past I had always twisted the throttle a little for a hot start but that didn't seem to work last weekend. Maybe it is just a case of being very sensitive to fuel and air being just right or no go.

Bike is 100% stock.
