Check out the cycra pro bends. They are available with different size guards also. Not cheap but very good quality. Get the triple clamp mount set, this clears all cables and brake parts. Plenty of room for levers and hand.

dmar,
The Cycra arelooking pretty good. Whatwas thefinal cost including the triple clampmount brackets?
That is a reallygreat looking handguard. They show in the catalog two different triple clamp mounts. One for front mount and one for side mount. Yours appear to be front mount? Any other issues with install?

Thanks

I forgot the actual price I paid, but just go to the cycra website and get the price. You can also order them from them direct from the website. They were expensive, but very high quality. I used the front mount triple clamp model. You can call cycra direct if you want. I had the same question you had and they were very happy to answer any questions, I even ordered the handguards while I had the guy on the phone. You do have to get longer bolts and washers, just take the stock bolts with you to the hardware store. I got new stainless bolts. I have renthal bars and they were simple to install. You will have to cut the very end of the throttle grip. They also have two different bar mounts, one for aluminum bars and one for steel. Make sure you get the correct one. My renthal bars were alloy. I think stock bars are steel.

The Cycra Racer Pack with the front triple clamp mount is $112.95 from Rocky Mountain. You do need to get the bar ends specific for steel or aluminum bars. If you haven't changed your bars yet, a good set of aluminum bars are much better than the week stock bars.If riding off road almost any fall is going to bend the stock bars while a good set of aluminum bars will take a lot of falls and abuse before they will bend. Alsomany of us with the KLX300 have found the stock height bars tobe much too low for standing up during off road riding and go to a higher bar. I used big bar adapters which raised the clamps 3/4" with Pro Taper CR Med bars. I'm 5'9" and would probably use CR High bars if using 7/8" bars.

These are the handguards that I had installed on my stock bars. As you can see I have crashed this bike into many trees. The stock bars are fine and work perfect for me. I had even flipped over the bars going 30+ and the bars are still fine. The only down side to these handguards is that they are a pain to install. I had to drill out the plugs on each end of the stock bars, then grind down the welds. Now that I have them installed they are great. (I think I had spent around $80 for them, it was a while ago)

Hey everybody,Thanks for the info. on your handguard installs. At this point I am really liking the Cycra with the triple clamp mounts. Has anyone had a problem with your handguards turning on the bars in the event of a fall? The Maier Extreme handguards are also looking good at $62.99 vs $112.95 for the Cycra's.

TheCycra triple clamp mount, IMO is the way to go. No cable routing issues and they will not rotate during a crash. Everyone I know and ride with, including my self, have had probably every type of Acerbis andbar mount Cycra's and at some pointthey will all rotate on the bar in the right crash.
