Default Grips

I am going to install some Acerbis rally brush guards tomorow so today i thought i would look and see what i need to do with the weights in the end of the stock bars. I twisted the left hand grip and it came off real easy. Like so easy i can now slide it on and off the bar with 1 finger. Is this normal? All it had on to hold it was a little pink glue mostly at the end on the weight. I didnt take off the right side yet i thought one side was smaller than the other when it comes to grips. Did the idiot who put my bike together put the grips on the wrong side? Also can i use contact cement or weatherstrip adheasive to mount the grips? There is no way i will be able to get any grip glue in time.

Why did you remove the grips? All you have to do is take a really long box knife and cut the end of the grip off. Then take a 5/8 drill bit and drill it out, then I took a dremel with a sanding drum and cleaned it out.

Consider tapping the weight in the stock bar-ends (if you have tap & die set)...
That way you can bolt in the bark busters directly, nice and solid.

Got hairspray? Or anything else that starts out wet and dries up sticky? (eww, sicko) [8D]
Use that for temporary grip glue. Slip the grip on while the hairspray is wet.

Well apparently im stupid thats why i took it off. It was always "loose" on the top side so maybe it was a good thing. I can get a tap set from a guy at work. That sounds like a good idea.

No your not stupid, don't say that, otherwise we are all going to have to list all of the things we did that might not have been the best way to do things, and that would probably be the longest thread of all time.

And to add, I have learned more about motorcycles in the last 6 months on this forum than I did the first 42 years of my life. What a great bunch of guys..........I gotta go, it would seem that I got something in my eyes and I'm not sure why but they are starting to water.
