I stored my '07 klx last November and I took it out yesterday. I started after one crank! I couldn't believe it, I was expecting a harder time, based on the posts I have read.

This is my simple formula (from listening to the good folks on this forum), and I guess I'm sticking to it:

November...Put stabilizer in the gas, ran the engine, turned off the gas and let it run dry. I removed the battery, and hooked it up to a battery tender. Raised the bike off the ground.

Yesterday...hooked up the battery, turned on the gas, shaky shaky, forward/back, side to side, pull out choke while you press starter and immediate start up.

Ran like a top...drove it 50 miles home. I have been reading about Seafoam...do any of you guys add this to your gas once in a while to keep the carb clean?

 

You don't even really need to go that far.. I stored mine for 4.5 months once without doing anything but running the carb dry before I shut it down, and then topped off the gas tank so no condensation would form. That's it. Time to start it, open your pet ****, wait a few seconds, and it cranks right up.

As far as seafoam goes, I've used it in the gas tank and sprayed some into the intake, and I know for a fact it cleaned my valves/piston of carbon buildup. I looked at the valves and piston before and after use, and they went from black and crusty to new looking. I'm a believer in that stuff

 

yea sea foam is the shiznet. havent used it on the bike, but its a good idea with the mileage i have. as for gas, crappy cali 89 is starting to go bad at about 2 1/2 weeks, lucky though, i have a real cast now and just got back from a good 30 mile cruse, god is good to be back on the bike, atleast on the street.

 

Another vote here for Seafoam. I've added it to the fuel in several bikes that were running a little rough and had the bikes start running right again after the Seafoam. Way cool! Must have cleaned some gunk or varnish or something out of the carbs.
