Default That goofy drain on the bottom of my '09...

So the drain hose and resevoir that comes out the bottom of my '09... the book says its something like an overflow or drain from the air cleaner... do I need this? Can I just snip the hose off shorter or completely remove it altogether? My jet kit came in today and we're gonna have the bike apart to rejet the carb this weekend, I wanna get rid of as much of this useless crap as I can.

What about the evap. cannister and separator? If we remove these will performance be affected? I wanna get rid of as much of this emissions stuff as I can without negatively impacting the way the bike runs.

Thanks in advance, and I'll be sure and post up a review / ride report thread after the rejet

It's a little catch bottle so that the crap doesn't fall on the ground.

Just take it off - it eventually falls off when you ride off road anyway.

Oh wait, that one drop of oil will seep into the ground water!!! I took mine off as soon as I got it home. It looked as if a fuel filter had come loose, ridiculous.

my old honda xl had a capped off line like that. the manual said to occasionally drain the capped off line to drain the air box of crankcase breather vented oil. It fell off eventually.

The 3 vents on the bottom of the tank need to vent also. Terminate them where the carb vents end. There is one vent that uses a grey hose .25". The other two are .125" use a 'y' connector and vent them to where the carb vents terminate. Remember *California model only*

OK so that hose is definately coming off when we do the carb tomorrow evening... but should everything else stay? What would be the point of shortening those other vents off the tank with a Y ?

Simple elimination of one vent line. You will need vent plugs.
