Default Gas tank damage from throttle cables

Allo all.

Thought I'd drop a quick post and see if anyone else has had any problems and carry any advice to offer. On the underside of my gas tank I've found the throttle cables have rubbed against it enough that its completely rubbed through the tank and polished the metal of the gas tank to a near mirror shine running the length of the cables.

Needless to say its only a matter of time before rust devlopes and rust aside, over years it could possibly eat through the metal after replacing a cable or two. Have'nt found a convenient way to route the cables yet to keep pressure off the tank and don't know if warrenty will cover either issue.

Any advice?

Give us all a bit to check our tanks out, this could be an issue that we all need to address. Thanks for the heads up, we'll let you know.

Could you take a pic and post it?
How many miles do you have?

I didnt notice anything on my tank when I removed to re-jett the carb but mines only 3 months old.

I put 'Chip Guard'(auto paint supply store) plastic film on everything that could rub the paint off my tanks. Under the tank you could use thin rubber and cement it over a wide area, or get a bed liner kit and coat the underside for permanent results.

I'll post up a picture when I have time to pull the tank again, unfortionately that might be a few days, but I'll try to remember to get it done. I need to pull the tank to check a few things over anyways. Unfortionately my work week is about to start so I'm going to be real short on time for a bit.

Last I checked though the paint was rubbed entirely through and it was polished metal. :/

Could you just take the right side panel off and take a pic?
