I found one on ebay for a 97-04 KLX300R. From what I can found out, that bike has the same front brake setup as our 250. I prob. go ahead and order it unless someone can tell me why I shouldn't.

yes and no. the 300 has a fully floating brake rotor. i don't know if that translates into any different setup for hardware or not. i'm sure the brake lines are the same, so it should be alright.
Actually its semi floating. Both mount using the "rivit" looking pins. The difference being a semi will not move without alot of force & then when it does it is not much. Full floaters mover freely & can make alot of noise when doing so in motion. But I bet you disagree...

So does anyone have a link to a retailer selling SS brake lines?

Thanks everyone for the answers and posting. You to Garry!

I've ordered the one off E-Bay last night. I'll post a quick write-up after the install.

Thanks again, gang.

Not to dampen anyone else's thread, but here's my follow up on a SS brake line for our bike. It's the Galfer #FK003D227 for 97-04 KLX300.

It feels firmer through the handle compared to the stock rubber hose. Install was fairly straightforward, with the exception of getting brake fluid in the new line. I ended up using my Mity-Vac (sp?)which is a small hand-operated vacuum pump, to suck the fluid down the line.

The only thing that I'm not real happy about is the angle of the fitting on the caliper side. It has to be angled to the outside of the caliper to fit the banjo fitting. If they would have made a 18-20 degree fitting, it would have been possible to run the line straight up ala CR style. I guess their logic was to use the stock fork shields and the guide that runs through it.

I might still add a shield of some sort that runs between the caliper mounting bolts to protect the 90 degree fitting from taking a direct whack to the side somehow, although it's not that vulnerable.

Looks good! I am doing my own front brake project right now but I am going to all out "CR style" routing. I looked at Galfer long & hard but I could not determine how there line was routed for sure--now I see--Thanks

Definitely looks better than the stock configuration! What holds the brake line in the fork shield - just a press fit, or did you put a dab of something to glue it in place?

More of a snap fit. The cable is free to move up and down with the action of the forks.
