Default First long ride

Well i finally got the klx out for nice long wet ride today(almost 100 mile)As you may know i have installed a 13 tooth counter shaft sprocket with the 42 in the rear. No other mods have been done. A full spectrum of riding was covered HYW,Backroads, single track with lots of water and mud. All in all i was quit pleased with the performance that i got out of this bike, it did everthing i asked it to do and all at 58.5 MPG. And best of all got to do some great riding with 4 good guy. Thanks Tony

Sounds like fun, I also got to ride a little this week, twice on the same logging road. On friday after work I rode to a DNR road, and what did I see? but a DNR employee unloading a couple of those Fat Cat bikes with the big wide tires, I think he said his was a 350, but they are really short (seat height) I asked him and his friend, oh by the way I know who he was, if I could ride with them, and they said sure. We rode for an hour or so, then they decided to head up a narrow quad trail, and I went for several hundred yards, but the rain started to really come down and there was soon a small creek washing down the trail, and with the clay it proved to be a little too much and I told them I was going to head back. By the time I got home I was really soaked. It's a good thing I only live a couple of miles from the road where I was ridding. I really think I am going to change the back sprocket from the 42 to a 46 or a 48. I ahve heard that a 13 is a little hard on chains. 1st gear was a little luggy and second gear made me have to ride faster than I wanted to ride. I am also thinking about a couple of bikes for my son (9) and my wife. I am leaning toward the KLX 110 for her and not sure what to get him, but I'll look and have them sit on bikes at the dealer first. Well I gota get to bed, later all.

Deej, I'm not sure how much more clearance there is for a bigger than 46. The guards are pretty close to my 45. I think you should keep some space for debis and grass, like I had jammed up in mine on Saturday.

Hmm so maybe I should try the 13 front, and that way I could continue to use the stock chain. yea I'm just going back and forth as usual. lol

Deej I am happy with my choice on going with the 13 quick and simple and a much more rideable than with the 14. later down the road I just might jump up to the 45 on rear just like Tony has.
Ride safe
