I agree. I have used my ‘***-dyno‘ on many different filters including paper, foam, gauze sandwich, fly screen, fabric, & no-filter, and I have never detected significant differences between them, unless of course a change to jetting & exhaust accompanies the change in filter. In fact, some of the filters which make the most boastful claims are the ones I have been most disappointed with. All other things being equal, it comes down to price and ease of maintenance for me.

 

The twinair showed up yesterday.Looks perfect to me-it's goin in!Uni can be on standby for now.I do need to get some filter oil-see what they have at St.Boni motorsports.Spray would be nice!I will lightly grease around the flat.As far as the oil-just lightly coat the outside and thats it.That fat mean green factory filter had a **** ton of grease on it and at least 3/4 of a quart of 90 weight.Christ I didn't even want to touch it.Hit the bottom kinda hard in the trash bin.LOL Seriously,WTF????!!!!!!!lol

 

My OEM filter was bone dry and bright yellow. Maybe a slight bit of oil on the very bottom. It's a stout filter, plenty large for a 250. Once oiled with blue bel-ray filter oil it became a nice green color.

 

The uni finally showed up.This thing hovers over the twinair.To me it's a bit on the huge side.it's an inch and a half taller when they're both flat.I do think the uni could really stand up in airflow when it's extremely dirty-it's a beast.But as far as just blowing through the both for air flow-twinair wins hands down,all around.Glad I didn't go with K&N or dna.I wish my jet kit would get here.I can't stare at this pipe and silencer anymore!!Maybe you guys can help me with my'jetting' thread.Monday is gonna be good and maybe bad-who knows.

 

always used k&n in the cars...decided to go with k&n for the moto too...replaced it today...test ride tomorrow...

 

Let me know how you like it.I run K&N in everything too.Just giving that Twinair a shot.

I am curious to hear how it works out. I used to like K&Ns but I once installed one on a Honda NT647GT and it put a significant hole in the middle of the powerband that I could not re-jet my way back out of. I’d also be cautious about using any sandwich gauze type filter (such as K&N) in excessively dusty or wet situations. It’s my understanding that the foam performs better under these conditions.

 

I didn't know they made a K&N for the KLX...........didn't see one listed.

 

wouldnt run that k&n in dirt if i was you.. more air = more fine particles in your motor.

 

k&n..can hear the air getting sucked in...bike feels a little "meatier" and "throaty"...seems to rev up faster...not sure if it's just the noise....oh well...it looks nicer than the sponge...
