Remember, the CVK has "built in" altitude compensation - The slide spring has a "set" resistance curve to slide lifting/reactions. Higher alts (lower air pressures) lift/react the slide slower because the engine vacuum in the thinner air exerts a weaker force. Adding to this: As alts increase, the engine output decreases, further lessening the vacuum exerted on the slide spring to lift/react the slide. Thus, leaner fueling curves as alts increase.

I always knew CVK carbs had some altitude compensation but I didn't know it was a function of the slide spring. Thanks Klxster reading your post are almost like going back to school always learn something.

The correction chart I use stops at 6k ASL. But at 6k with summer temps (85+°F), you're all the way back to a DJ134.. So this summer, you'd better keep a bunch of jets with you.. The kits' DJ132 should be good while at 7-8k ASL.

According to a snowmobile formula I found, @ 8K ASL, your bike will loose about 6 hp.. Considering the new power levels, this puts it back to about the same power you had when stock... It'll be interesting to hear your report this summer..

Default jets

So if I rej et to a 155 and do the other adjustments and leave it alone when we go camping in the summer at those elevations I'm ok with the loss of power I'm just putting around in the mountains ...

No Don. If you are going to "squat" this summer at 7-8k, you should rejet to the DJ132. On the other hand, I really don't know how well/badly the K152 will perform up that high with summer temps, maybe it'll be ok.. I wouldn't count on it..

I ordered the 152 and will wait to re jet when it comes in, We have two camping trips, The one in late July @ 6500',One in late August 5500' So I will re jet to a 132 ,clip on third slot, DJ spring , put snorkel less lid back on for one month. When were done re do everything to the 152 lidless setup when we get back , ?

I've had this cold for two weeks now and it's like I take a couple of stupid pills every morning with my vitamins .No joke Can't think straight , loss of common sense, lots of confusion ... ..,Anyway putting all this stupid behind us here. I'm going to follow your instructions to the letter when my 152 comes in..On a different topic but related ,I took off the smog stuff to take advantage of the lower exhaust temps ,along with the Mega bomb , after a spirited ride I carefully touched the pipe and it was no hotter than warm iron...

Default more on re jet

Finally had some time to get back to the bike , Followed klxster's recipe with the 152. Bike runs really well, Took it on the frwy to see how much more top end it had ,Got it up to 75 it had more, I wasn't looking for a ticket so I backed off, I'm really happy with it . Still won't power wheelie but I'm cool with it ,already have bad knees from wheelies gone bad ..Anyway Big thanks to klster for all his time and effort ! Lid's in the attic

My pleasure Don.. Regarding your bikes' new power, I couldn't have done it without ya (lol). Good work!

Readers should remember that Don has to run a K152, instead of the "normal" K158, due to his MUCH higher altitudes..

Wait till yall hear what our resident lady mechanic has done to her '07 KLX..(Steffaroo83)
