You can run a search and find some real good pointers in this forum but to be honest what I have done is made all the intake and exhaust mod’s that I am going to first and then also made notes of all the stock carb settings, as far as jetting your bike properly there are no exact settings that you can set to magically dial in your carb, every carb is different and every engine will run differently due to numerous variables, there are a hundred different ways to wind up at the same point in the end.

You will want to follow the Dynojet’s instructions and use some of the jet sizes and needle settings that members have posted here as baselines but in the end you’re still going to have to twist that air screw (I went out ¼ turn at a time from the stock setting of 1-turn until I got it right at 2 turns) and crack that carburetor open at least a couple times to nail the settings dead on.

I see; 2.5 turns out on the air screw, #125-128 main jet and second notch on the needle as some very common baselines during my research, none of which was dead-on for my bike.

If you still have the 250 piston and cylinder , I would downsize the jets a little from the dynojet kit instructions, the kit is for a 300 which takes more fuel. Try 2 turns out on the fuel screw, stock pilot( the 300 uses a 35 pilot like the 250) 124-128 main jet, and 3 clip down on the dynojet needle, NJ is less than 1,000 ft. elevation. If you have soot coming from the exhaust your too rich. Or have the shop put it on a co2 machine.

Match yours to the settings listed in my signature. Im in Houston so Im only about 150ft above sea level if that.

edit >>> with astock klx300 exhaust I would go 125 main, 2 slot, drilled slide and 2.5 full turns.
