Default Dual sports= moped

Ok not trying to rip on this guy or anything, but man it really pushed my buttons, he considers supermotos (dual sports) to be in the same class as atvs and mopeds, not in the same class as cruisers and sport bikes. Basically they aren't a street bike and shouldn't be called as such . How ignorant can you get what a doofus... Have you guys ever met a person like this?

Legally in MI a moped is belt driven containing no gears, but instead a clutch ... a class of its own kinda. :-)

I ride my SF along with a crew of friends in a scooter club on their annual poker run. Some of those 2-stroke scoots are pretty modded and certainly faster than my KLX! One guy is making 28hp with his Lambretta!

Any way you look at it it's still a 250. At least our 250's don't get the same chuckle of a CBR250 or Ninja250. Those are wannabes.

I know, he's just a punk that says a 650r is a SS and starting out on a SS is safe as can be. I dint know why it bothered me so much. Pride for my bike i guess

A bit harsh; all new riders have to start somewhere. Ride offroad with buddies who have big bore bikes like a KTM. You will think you'll have a CBR or Ninja in comparison.

No shame in the little CBR250r! I had the opportunity to ride one on a road course when they were first introduced here 3 or 4 years ago.

The little thing wouldn't quite hit 150km/h (~95mph) on the straight and it took ages to get there. The key was carrying more speed *through corners than you might otherwise if you had a fist full of torque to rely on.*

I found out it takes bigger b@lls than I have to keep the throttle pinned past all your braking markers and into a corner! *Some of the most fun I ever had on any motorcycle was that day on the CBR250!
