I'm surprised to hear you're unhappy with the Icon Variant. That's the helmet I actually wanted to look at, but the dealership didn't carry it. And I needed to finance the helmet into my purchase so I had to buy what they had.

I read a lot of good reviews about the Variant. Check out Revzilla's video review. In hindsight, I'm really happy with the Shoei RF-1100. It's a great street helmet and I bought an inexpensive O'Neil helmet for off-road.

My exo-400 scorpion was fine all the way up until my accident, i guess it still is fine... but the clips for padding must be made of petrified poop or something cuz half of them broke within the first week... I was lookin at the icon variant, glad to know its not holding up, would have been sad to drop $350 on a 6 month helmet.

read the reviews and watched the videos...looked great when i first got it...but, i'm wondering what kind of endurance testing they do on helmets for their review....icon variant did well on high speed rides and for the first few thousand miles....after about 6,000 miles it started to show some problems...brim of visor is getting worn down from the wind....visor is little warped from the wind probably also....there is a like a 3mm gap and the visor won't stay closed all the way....the liner sags down a little.....have little 7,000 of use now and it is starting to look pretty beat up....how long is a helmet suppose to last in terms of miles?...i talked to people that said they had their helmet for 5 years and such...but, i ask them about how many miles they rode....and it's usually kind of low...like 15,000 miles in 5 years....

I'm getting the AFX-something39 DS helmet myself. I've got a couple of AFX lids that have done me well and for the price ...

I use a LS2 MX433. It's an ok helmet. Don't even know if they sell them in the US. I have 25,000Km on it in a little over an year. Still fits good and it's actually comfortable.

+3! Got mine a few weeks ago. Only had it out on one ride so far but its comfortable and fits great. At $90 bucks if it only last a couple years or 5,000 miles so what, just buy another.

I think its a great looking helmet. I decided to go with a road helmet without a visor for my commuting and an MX otherwise.

I did a scorpion for the price and I was able to try them locally for fit.

Scorpion EXO-750 Vintage Helmet - RevZilla

It does have a green stripe anyway!
