All depends on how many miles are on that chain. Rule of thumb is, you should always change the sprockets and chain at the same time. A slightly worn/stretched chain will wear out the sprockets real quick. Thats gunna have to be up to you.

As long as my chain is in good shape I just throw on the sprocket I need for the ride. Werloc is right. I just do it anyways as the sprockets are cheap.

Your 15t will be there mid week. Enjoy!

Thanks again for that. My chain only has 2000 miles on it so I guess I'll take it off and take a look at it. If not the chains are cheap enough.

But if you do get a new chain, you'll need a new rear sprocket. 2,000 miles is at the question point. I'd just go with the counter sprocket like s10gto said. I agree. IF your chain is an 0-Ring or X-Ring, then don't worry. Only if the new spocket is a noticeable difference, I'd rethink it.

I think I'm going to try my luck with a 15T sprocket as well. How is it off the line and cruising up higher as far as power goes? Does it negatively effect the bike much? My friggn commute changed and I'm racking up a 80 miles a day through two lane mountain roads at freeway speeds now. I think I need a bigger bike...but I just love the Kawi.

I'll go to the motorcycle shop after work and just try one, they're cheap enough.

This is the one I put on my 14. I am sure someone can verify if 07 is the same.

Well, just got my 15 today and threw it on. It's good! I like how the gears stretch out a bit more around town and first basically feels the same off the line. The best is the freeway, cruises 70 a little better. I'll even leave it on for dual sport rides. If I throw knobies back on then I'll use my 13 sprocket too. Bottom line, 15 is legit.
