Default chain sizes and gearing

I feel so priveledged to be the first to post in this forum!!!

Hopefully there are some other kx65 dads out there!

I am going to be buying a new chain for my sons bike, but dont know what to get as I am relatively new to this whole scene.

I have seen in the catalogs 420 and 520 chains....is the only difference whether it has an o-ring or not?

Also, what gearing is most popular for these bikes?

Thanks
Ed.

hi there, well this forums not up to much, none of us have had a response,so i thought i would respond to yours.
i personally use non o ring chains.o rings tend to drag.in my opinion the DID 420 ERT is the best chain.and as for gearing,it all depends on the track, track conditions and the rider,a personal preference thing that works best for you!

I agree with motodad as far as the chain and with gearing I believe stock is 13/47.I played around with different combo and my son like sthe 14/47 best for mx and 14/48 for arena cross.Hope this helps.
