Default complete bottom end rebuild kit available or order individual OEM?

I apologize if this has been brought up already !

Is there a complete bottom end rebuild kit available for our bikes or should i order individual OEM parts? All ***** sells crank bearings and seals, but that's all I've been able to find. Planning to do the bottom end along with possibly a BB 351 while my motor is apart

I looked as well for mine, wound up just buying all OEM. All ***** crank bearings were not much cheaper if at all. I think I paid about $36 for the OEM pair. I also replaced the balancer and trans bearings as well, allthough that approach was proably overkill. Actually, they all seemd fine once I removed and cleaned them up. But I have peace of mind now.

did you have the crank rebuilt/replaced ? I'm at 7500 miles, something i should think about doing as i plan to take it well over 10k miles ?

the output shaft bearing is making more noise now, so I'm going to just rebuild the whole bottom end while I have the cases split. I agree with you though, might as well just do all the bearings and seals just to be safe. It will end up being the one we don't replace that goes 50 miles from the truck

Any reason why you want to do the bottom end? Some guys have over 30K miles on the klx all original.

I'm wondering the same. My bike has almost 28,000 km and I don't even think about doing the bottom end, yet.

OCD seems to be very common in the US.

Its what i refer to as the "Harley Mentality", just because an HD needs rebuilt every 10K does not mean every motorcycle needs to be.

hey now, I am on my third rebuild on the hd. But in reality, it is normally how the ride is maintained in how often things happen. Was the CS or other parts put under undo stress because of improper maintenance? Just a what if thing that happens alot actually scenario example. I can see a 7500 mile refresh possibly with me at the helm, but not a bottom end.

edit: I blew up my 1976 rototiller, so I cannot say too much at the moment which does not answer your question, but brings up above mentioned what if's

I had the crank out, it looked fine, connecting rod was nice and tight. They tell you to rotate it around, if it feels smooth with no perpendicular play, then it is probably fine. A slight amount of lateral play is normal though. As for the rest of the bottom end, the PO ran it out of oil, so, figured it was good insurance just to replace all of the bearings for the minimal cost compared to the $$ I was putting into the top end. May have been overkill though.

My output shaft bearing is making nasty noises from a prolonged over tightened chain and a lot of hard street use plus I'm planning to put a BB 351 and pumper carb. on it so im just going to do it all at the same time.

I doubt it needs anything replaced other then that one bearing because i have seen accounts of people going to 15,000 miles on stock internals, but will at least do the crank bearings and others as needed to be safe
