Clutch Slipping with the BB 351 kit
There are many synthetic oils that are formulated especially for motorcycles (meaning that they are wet clutch compatible)..
Glazing is the process whereby a clutch, that has begun to slip, becomes increasingly "damaged" if it is allowed to continue slipping over time and use..
Once the clutch has been "glazed", it's "done"... It will need to be worked on and/or replaced..
Running the wrong oil - Dino or Synth, can/will cause slippage to occur when it wouldn't have otherwise.

But, clutch pull is pretty brutal after a while.
Thanks all, I am running straight Dino 10W40 since I am still breaking the engine in. I didn't notice the clutch slipping with the lighter 110/18 Kenda Trackmaster but with the 130/17 Kenda K681 I definetely noticed it slipping in the upper gears under load. I found a solution on Mr. DUH Factor's site where he contacted Barnett and they advised him to use 3 (every other spring) of their part number 501-40-06017 (38 lb. springs) in his highly modified BB351 KLX. It worked well so I think that is the path I will take.

I run the three stiffer springs, clutch pull is a little stiffer than stock but nowhere near brutal. I upgraded when I went to 300cc. But now that I am at 351 I am thinking of all 6 but don't want that stiff a pull.
I tested it on Sunday and NO SLIPPAGE! The pull wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be either so I would recommend it. I had to stop for coffee at Jimi Hendrix's old shop. Bike is pictures with the road wheels and tires (19 inch front and 17 inch rear). The clutch did not slip with the 18 inch knobby.
It's in Unionville, PA, way down in the SE corner of the state. Yes, that is a light for the sign. Thanks, I had it down to the bare frame with just the gearbox in it for a while. No mud with those tires. It gets dirty when the Shinko fatty front and the Kenda trackmaster rear are on it. It is so nice to have a set for adventure type riding-it's like having two bikes in one.
