Hi all,

I know there a lot of threads regarding this but I would just like to know what are the different options I have if I want to upgrade cc's. I read about 300cc, 331cc, 340cc... I'm a bit confused. Also wich parts (including carb, exhaust...) are to change with the different options.

Yeah but its nice to post the stuff up here for future references. It would have been better if the OP had posted "big bore kit" in the title rather than two upper case C's. I had no clue what this thread was about. This is why people come up empty handed when doing forum searches and then they are forced to start new threads and people get pissed at them.

I'm not an expert being new to the bike and this forum myself but the 300 kit is basically the KLX300 jug and piston kit. Factory Kawasaki OEM plain and simple. The 331 kit is from Kustom Kraft. You can simply just type that into google and you will get their site. You'll know its the right one because the sites all HTML like its right from 1995. I've heard of the 340 but know next to nothing about it. Only that supposedly the people who sell it have bad customer service.

I heared rumor that Kustom Kraft was working on a 350, but heard nothing else about it.

Also, on the Planet KLX site (which is old material) they had a 365 kit mentioned on there. There is still a link on there but the site it goes to is no more. The kit was suppose to be for a KLX300 but I'm sure its a pretty safe bet it would work for a 250, but not hold a gun to my head - sure though because it was also a stroker kit. Don't know if the 300 cranks are the same as the 250s.

Bill Blue and Kustom Kraft both do a 331. Bill Blue will bore your stock 250 jug and install a steel sleeve. Kustom Kraft has to start with a 300 jug and then they over bore it to 331 and have the Niskal coating put back on.

I belive to currently go bigger than than 340(which requires a steel sleeve) you need to have a stroker crank done.

Bill Blue is about the same in price for a sleeved 331 package as the OEM parts are to go to 300. Its just the question if you want have a steel sleeve or stay with the Niskal coating. The Kustom Kraft 331 is quite a bit more than the other two, and the Thumper Racing 340 is as well, being that they both require a 300 jug to start.

 

Bill is also doing the carb work, which a lot of people have on their bikes. And I heard rumor of him working on a 350 also. Still in manufacturing phase at this time, though. I got one of his 331 kits, and it looks really nice. I just got my second engine today, so the install will start this week.

 

Does Bill do the engine work for you? As in you ship him your motor, or just the parts?
