Default 300cc upgrade

Hi All! I've been lurking around this form for two months now and think I'm about ready to make the purchase. My question is , which upgrade will yield the most power increase , the pipe or the 300cc kit? I think both are close in price and the pipe is easier to install. I however dont like the idea of a louder exhaust note. I havent seen any postings about the 300cc upgrade but was just curious if anyone is considering that option. Of course carb and airbox mods would come first , any comments would be apreciated.
Thanks to all who have posted here for helping with my decision!

Joel

300 kit is long way off for me. After all the mod's I have done the KLX 250s has plenty of usable power. I'm just looking to gear it even lower. The 300 kit will bring more power than the new pipe would(theres no substitution for displacement) but at what cost, pain, and effort insalling. I get pissed just when I need to adjust valves, and thats top side. I also have anger managment problems so I have to buy new parts all the time because I break stuff. I'm sure someone will do it soon I would just wait and see how theirs turned out. Oh and that Muzzy exhaust isn't that loud it just barks.

If you went with the 300 kit you would have to change the exhaust anyway. The stock exhaust is barely big enough for the 250. FMF makes a "Q" series muffler that is supposed to be fairly Quiet. I just bought a tm33 pumper carb, will install it this weekend and let everyone know how it works. Should give it much more snap without anymore noise. With the stock cv carb, trottle response is way to slow for off road. Tried the other carb mods and 13-46 gearing, but it needs more response. The power is not that bad, it just takes to long to get there.
