I want to remove my front sprocket cover/guard and replace it with a `case saver` on my KLX250/300 clone engine. The reason being that with the original sprocket cover on it soon packs full of mud, but i want some case protection should the chain decide to let go.
Can`t find anything listed to fit a KLX250/300 and was hoping someone here would know of one that does.
I believe there is a metal insert under the cover that is essentially a case saver, not fancy, but does the job. I remember because my original wasn't bolted in properly when I got the bike and I got another one from Kawasaki.

Hi
Thanks for that and sorry for my delayed response.
Mine is different to the Kawasaki one (It`s a Lancin KLX copy) in that the sprocket cover is a one piece item made of the same (weak looking) material as the cases, the location bolt holes however seem to be in the same positions as a KLX.
Wow that`s cheap!
Strange that they call it a chain GUIDE where it is in fact a GUARD.
That part number has allowed me to locate it within a Kawasaki parts supplier here in the UK, thank you.
Assuming it`s steel that will fit the bill.
Actual function is if the chain broke that piece will keep the chain aligned on the sprocket until the counter shaft sprocket spins it all out the bottom. If it wasn't there the chain could slap around and wad up between the sprocket and cases. I had that happen on my Bultaco when the master cylinder disappeared due to my putting it on wrong and again when the chain derailed and doubled up between the sprocket and cases. Not fun.
I see, that makes sense then.
I have become very conscious of this issue since shipping a chain (at low speed) on my MZ Mastiff a couple of years ago which took out a mounting boss on the inner case, i was fortunate in that i was able to repair that.
Thanks again.
