Default Transmission cover question

I went down recently and my transmission cover was scratched. I have a new one on the way. If I unbolt the old one from the bike will there be any surprises like internal parts falling out? I kinda figured there might be oil behind it and I may have to drain that first. I could be wrong. Hopefully it is just a cover and not holding any parts or fluids in,

In the picture it is the piece shaped like a silver turtle.

Yup, drain the oil, swap out the case cover. There should be no surprises. Although that case cover looks spendy.

Make sure your new cover comes with a gasket. If not you might want a new one before you put it on. we dont want no leaks.

True, whether O-ring or gasket, I was thinking it came with it. Me bad.

We would hope so, but sometimes they dont. Atleast in the automotive world... It sux to get a part to put on and come to find out it's missing things.
