Carborator options?
O yeah, the intake on the engine side of the carb is smaller than the CVK so feels a little loose in the rubber boot when you first get it in.
Once the clamp is secure it seems fine and I sprayed a crap load of carb cleaner around that area with no change to the motor rpm so it seems to be sealed fine and I don’t think there are any air leaks.

As far as I can tell it is same length give or take a few mm. both intakes are completely covered by the rubber boots.
I re-routed the throttle cable under the loom on top on the tank yesterday and now it is perfect and doesn’t tighten when moving the bars hard to the left. Took it for another little spin yesterday and I cant get enough of it…….. Wont be able to do a properly “in the dirt” test until next weekend though but I am hanging out for it.
My brother just bought a CRF450x so I am going to have to ride a lot harder this weekend to keep up with him. Should be a good test for the Tm36. It’ll be good cause now that he has a registered bike we can ride to the forest instead of loading the ute + we can stop at the pub on the way home.
I still haven’t taken any pictures but ill see what I can do over the next day or two.

Just an update.......
I swapped down to the 125 jet for a 2nd comparison and because i was getting a little bit of black soot (which I take is richness) on the back indicator.
I feel (now that i have ridden both a little more) it that it is better than the 127.5. Although when i go from full throttle and quickly close to 1/8 throttle (this is a test from the manual) the engine seems to hesitate (i.e. drop all power) and then pull. Manual says that this is a sign of richness because your cutting all airflow creating a really rich environment (i.e. bogs down) and then as the small amount of air from the 1/8 throttle starts to mix it leans it back to how it should be and starts pulling. Anyone got any thoughts on this? I might see if I can get my hands on a 122.5 main.
Also when quickly moving the throttle from 1/2 to 3/8 throttle the engine is a little slow to respond. Manual says this is a slightly lean condition so I will probably raise the needle one clip.
Again I’m really happy with this carb, cant get the smile of my face…..… just need the jetting dialled in 100% perfect.

another update........
Finally got the bike out for a ride yesterday (had been drizzling all morning and really muddy). Its going to take me a little to get used to this new found response that’s for sure….. I almost lost it a few times because the response surprised me (especially up hills).
Give the throttle a quick twist and bam, power straight to the back wheel. This was great for clearing puddles. I’ve never been able to do this before and it feels great to get the front wheel over thing obstacles (again doesn’t lift very high but enough to do its job). Also helps getting air on small just for the same reason.
Fuel usage seems to be about the same but will take a few more rides to get a clear comparison. Jetting seems fine bike pulls nicely especially in the mid range, im getting a little bit of black soot on the rear indicator so I could be a little rich somewhere, but its less than I what I was getting from the CVK carb.

Awesome. Thanks for the updates. I REALLY want one of those badboys, but i'm going to have to wait for the exhaust first. I was planning on getting them at the same time but some things came up and now its one or the other for now
Hi guys,
Have been riding with the TM36-68 for a while now and have it pretty much perfect I think.....
I am at pretty much sea level on a 06 stock bore with all the free mods.... lid removed, backfire screen gone, good air filter + FMF powerbomb with FMF q2 exhaust.... my settings are
Pilot Jet............ 12.5
Needle Jet......... P-6
Jet needle......... 9DZH6-50 3rd position from the bottom
Main jet............ 125
I think I am still a little rich in the mid range but I can’t be arsed to take the tank off to lower the needle one clip.
Riding the trails is great with the throttle response I get from the TM36-68 but is a little touchy on the road so I wouldn’t recommend for a road only bike.
Fuel is pretty comparable to the CVK carb I feel.... we did about 100klms last weekend (50:50 mix of on-road and off-road) and i filled up on the way home (probably at about 80klms) and it was full after about 3.5 litres.
Here’s some pictures, next time I have the tank off ill take some from the top.

great base as im at sea level aswell. should have mine in a about a month will post results when installed. This will be going on my SF with a 1/4 turn. Im actually looking for the big hit so this should be perfect. and ill be stepping up to a 340 or 351 kit sometime after the new year. Thanks for the help neil. Cheers.
Bill Blue carb, on the right[intake] side you can see the part he made to make it fit the stock intake and air box boot. At the top is the cable holder he fabed.

Only has one cable, works fine. I had to move the wires out of the way.

From the top you can see the bracket he made.

I have a full FMF power bomb and a Q4. air lid no schnorkel [sp]1 3/4 out on the fuel screw.
