The gps is a "All Terrain 4.3 Inch Motorcycle GPS Navigation System "Rage"". I don't plan on powering anything else.
edit - the gps showed up earlier than expected. sorry for the lowres pic
the removable housing has an electrical contact area. 2 seperate power cords are provided: a cigarette lighter plug-in and one with bare leads.
So it looks like the one with bare leads can go directly to the battery... or be wired in somewhere to have a key cut-off/on?

Once I turn on the GPS it's always on until I manually turn it off.
And that's OK because the GPS draws very little amperage from the battery. You could leave it on all day and it won't run the battery down.

Tips & Tricks
On the same page you can see where I installed a BMW style 12 volt outlet for heated clothing etc.
This is connected directly to the battery (fused) so it can be used to plug in a battery charger.
It's mounted where the front turn signal used to connect as I have the turn signals mounted on the brush guards.
