Budget KLX steering damper / stabilizer?
I have an R1 with a Scotts stabilizer kit on it. Love it. But I am not really looking to spend $500 on a stabilizer for my 2009 KLX250s. I cannot believe there are not a million posts on here AND on youtube for budget stabilizers -like the old school, cylinder types. For those of you with Scotts, I get it it. In fact, I've got it. But I am looking to do a lower budget mod here. I finally got my bike running right (for now), and at speed with a knobby on the front, it is scary as hell. Pics, links, whatever you have got would be greatly appreciated. I even thought about a "savage" stabilizer that is a Scotts knock off.... but the mounting kit is still $150 above and beyond the stabilizer. Let me know what, if any, you have managed to make work. Thanks!

I have come to the conclusion that unless I am going to fabricate my own mounts for this and use a fork clamp, it is not in the cards. Perhaps I will change the straight up MX tires to dual sport tires. The previous owner changed them. I am sure that can't be helping the situation. I see decent tires, sold in pairs at great prices. So great in fact, that the cost to put them on will probably be more than the tires themselves.

I've not run into a problem where I've needed a stabilizer on my dual sports. When the front tire is worn a bit it will start to wobble hands off, but I don't ride hands off. If the tire is totally junk it can finally be felt in the handlebars a bit, but a tire fixes that. Not saying you don't need it, just saying I've never had to I guess.
