I also have a street helmet I like a lot - a Shoei Z-Two. It's much more comfortable and quiet than the MX helment and good for communting or when I'll be riding in an area where I'll be getting good air flow.

My local hardware store has an electric carving knife for $12. I've used it to cut foam and it is worth every penny. I suspect that it would not survive production use, but mine has lasted long enougn to modify several seats.

Of course, now we have a friggin hurricane warning and it's raining buckets here so I can't do a long test ride ... looks like the weekend might be shot, too due to the forecast. Hoping for blue skies ...
