bike prep for long long trip
#12
How far from civilization will you be and how many others with you? A long trip like that I like to put a wrench on every nut and bolt, and check every electrical connector for corrosion. Change every fluid on the bike, get every thing together that you will take and do a test ride to see how things ride.

thanks for all the replys,
i wont acually ever be far from people where im going.. and the big problem is i dont know how to change a tire or fix a flat, (so i like the rim lock idear) im thinking do away with all the electrical safety options as a start.
and take spare tire and tubes so i can stop in someware and get a shop too do it,
ill be starting in thailand and hopefully heading accross to cambodia then into vietnam get to the top and then cruise accross loas, if im still alive and have money ill try to make it to india as i can leave the bike there at my house and fly back to australia, as to always then have a bike to travel when i go back..
can any one see any problems with this idear>?
iv just come back from a two week bike ride though these areas and couldn't get enough.

Mate, I wish I was up for a trip up there.
I'd suggest a look round the ADV forum.
Lot of guys there have the experience.
Aus thread is here.
