Apparently, the part number just identifies that you are ordering a Quiet Core insert, but as some people have already found out, there are many Quiet Core sizes ... all of which have the same part number.
I'm flabbergasted. Good thing you guys are around to save people some heartache.

if you go to big gun's website, the vortex actually looks a little different, but the same general design, and they are not showing anything for the klx300 anymore.....strange...[&:]

The Quiet Core is a little bit louder than the Vortex insert, but FAR LESS restrictive (about 1.39 sq. in. opening versus 0.5 sq. in).

I've heard the stories about how the Vortex is a good temporary solution, but not a good choice for continuous long term use. I guess it causesa lot ofpulsating back-pressure, which over time fatigues the rest of the system and beats itself to death - figuratively and literally. (Get it: "beats itself to death"? Man, sometimes I just crack myself up! )

Yeah, that's the restrictive one. The Quiet Core is the one that's a little bit louder, but far less restrictive.

Here's an end view of the Quiet Core (The Race Core is similar, but without the baffles):
