Agree about assembly disassembly, but it also helps to know clutches from the perpective of those who design and manufacture them. No mystery then, no fear in a 4-spring solution.

As for calculating, testing, and specifying softer springs, let's say I did that work and again provided free results including part numbers. The end result would be no better, nor would it be one bit more reliable than the 4-spring solution I have offered. I'm not going to do that.

Maybe I should plate some springs in zinc chromate yellow and add some BS marketing. Charge $100. That will make the mod credible!

If you use "mega" or "ultra" in the name I believe this would work.

I went into this thread thinking it was going to tell me a way to get my clutch tighter!! But it's telling me to make it looser?! I just don't get it.

haha ya u could totally do it.. but i think they put those springs in there for a reason, there are certain parts on my bike i dont wanna take stuff off without replacing them with an "upgrade" know what i mean??

This vid is awesome, that's great!

I'll see about making a test video of riding techniques. Problem is I have to do it with a tripod. I start, run over and do something, then come back and turn the camera off. Then edit the vid.
That's the "Survivor Man" style, I think it's pretty cool. And if it comes out crappy, well, it's not supposed to be great in the first place, just different.

If it works for you then I get it. Not something I'll be doing though. At the very least I could do with some stiffer springs the way I ride.

If you're getting some drag, go the MX way and fit one of these....
Adjustment on the fly is a cinch.

You don't get it and that's perfectly OK. But for further clarification it's not about adjustment or the need to change adjustment while riding, and not about buying expensive bits.

So you have had the stock clutch slip when engaged? As you nail it hard on pavement and the rpm rises way up with no equivalent forward acceleration and no wheel spin with smoke? Got a nitro-methane 350cc bike?

Yes, the other day it happened. In 4th gear, going up a long hill, I gave it gas, and the RPM's started screaming with no acceleration.

I need a new clutch. I need stiffer clutch springs. I don't see any good to come out of removing two of the pressure plate springs! Unless you like your clutch real soft and mushy. I'd rather have it tight like a virgin and able to grab in a snap instant.

Different strokes!

"mega" ... good,good

"ultra" ... yes, good, good

While we're at it might I suggest ... "High Definition"?

I just received a set of Midland walkie-talkies to set up a bike-bike com system and the blister pack had "HD" in big bold letters. WTF

Seems everything has "High Def" plastered on it these days.
