Beef up my KLX250s 09
Hi guys and gals,
newby to the forum. been reading some posts on here and thought Id put in my lil project. first time rider and biker. mostly will be used for dirt here in Australia and a little commuting.
picked up the klx250s 09 a few months back, I was very stock standard

Within a few off road rides. I wanted a little more sting.
So currently completed:
replaced 46t with 51T rear and 14T front soon will be replaced with 13T and new chain thanks to Moose racing (remember I mostly ride trails) I also have changed to a rear fender eliminator, LED tail light and indicators. spent some dollars on some chunky rubber ( these shred up logs!!!)
before:
after:

other than that, I have some barkbusters on the Renthal bars (raised) bash plate (Moose) pulled off air box lid. cut off kick stand safety switch....
Whats Next?????
yet to pop on 13T front.
looking at the best slip on option and jetting???? remember its an Aus spec 09.
thanks, Steve.

Hey mate! I'm in aus too, dunno bout the best slip on but i have seen the fmf powercore with the powerbomb header for bout 450 delivered on ebay... Im thinkin og doing that.
Let me know how the 13 goes with the 51. I recently changed to the 13, it was good but i want more.... (Mines 100% off road)

Joel: its the usual set up on off road. Currently running 14/51 much better for hills. If I do the 13 I would assume there won't be much of a first gear, but that will be perfect when stuck on a bumpy hill climb to get the wheel spinning and get me out of an uncle Rutt...
Howitzer - ill post it up here how it is..

I run a #40 pilot & #138 Keihin main - starts well hot & cold, didn't drill anything out. I did have a N1TC needle but it chewed through juice so now it's the stock needle with a couple of shims under it. I'm thinking of installing a KLX300 cylinder/piston upgrade as I'm not a big fan of the 351. My bike is geared for commuting as I've installed a 15T c/s sprocket. Cheers
Wow 13/51t . Mine is 14/49 . I'm thinking 14/51 maybe ill try it this summer. Can you still do 65 mph on 14/51 ? Need that speed or close to that riding towards the trails. Tnx

Are you in Aus?? I've notice your running a T bro slip on.... Does yours have a 300 header? Did it fit well? I was read somewhere that those won't fit my bike.....
Pogiboy - I've got 6 gears, she makes it easy with 14/51.
Rockabillslapmatt - I've never heard of DG till now. They been around for a while?/new brand. Sounds cheap, doesn't mean they are cheap.....
Hi Steve
I've got a 2011 KLX250 and put the 300 kit ,Staintune muffler De-restricted carby and Dynojet kit in it really made a big difference not only does the bike perform heaps better with loads more torque, its more forgiving in the lower gears. Would also recommend a set of Unabiker radiator guards along with heavy duty tubes and a set of rimlocks if you are planning on a lot of off-road riding .....hope this helps...What part of Queensland are you in I'm in the wet part at Gympie
regards
