I have just installed mine but because of the weather here have not started it yet. If you wanted to try to tap it I guess you could try, but I would be concerned about messing up the current threads because the relief is not cut deep enough. I saw no problems with shortening the bolt and feel it would work fine if I ever went back to original cylinder.

Can you explain what you mean by shorten? My lower tensioner bolt is threaded partially and then has a sleeve that extends beyond the threads that holds a washer and a spring. Are you just filing the end of the threads down? I saw in another thread someone mentioned using a hack saw, but I don't see how one would do that in this situation. Maybe it all will make more since to me once the cylinder gets here and I can see the issue.

You need to shorten the sleeve. The relief they cut into the cylinder and threaded is not deep enough for the stock bolt to go into, it will not go in all the way. You can cut 4mm off or grind it off, either way will work. I just used a cutoff wheel on my grinder to do mine.

I would modify the cheapest part... the plug.

Taking a guess at the needed work - clamp the head in a vise and carefully file the plug, keeping as parallel to the mating surface as possible.

That's some very wise advice right there.

Wonder how these would fit on the left side with some trimming

My AHL kit arrived yesterday and I have a question. How do I know which ring is the top ring and which is the second? They both look the same but one has a silver edge and the other does not.

The ones that come with the AHL are not the same as the Kustom Kraft rings. I've attached a photo of the AHL rings. I'm thinking the one with the silver edge is probably the top ring, but want to confirm that. I sent tong tong and email asking for clarification as no instructions were included with my kit.

I am aware its a different kit . I have the same as yours. Getting close to installing it. In my understanding, the beveled ring goes on top, which is the silver one . Ahl lettering up also. Thats what I intend to do unless you discover otherwise !
