Aussie 2010 KLX250S jetting and slip on pipe
I am getting the work done by Lloyd Penn in Artarmon (34 Punch Street). He has been recommended to me by a few people, so I'm hoping he's good. Seemed to know exactly what I wanted done which inspires confidence. He's doing it all for me tomorrow, so I'll let you know the results and if I'm happy with him.
I ordered my slip-on and dynojet kit from JC Motors per WestOzKLX's recommendation. Ordered on 26 May, and recieved them 1 June! Awesome!!! As for my pilot jet and the 13 tooth sprocket, I got them from Bikebiz Kawasaki in Parramatta. Think the jet was $20-odd, and the sprocket $15-odd. Took them a day to get them in for me.
So by the end of tomorrow my little beast should be breathing freely and itching to hit the trails this weekend! Just hope the weather holds out on Sunday so that it's nice riding conditions. The rain the past few days should mean some nice tackey dirt and no dust. Can't wait!

So, I just collected my bike and rode it home. First impression - damn, that's a nice pop from the pipe when you quickly blip the throttle
So she's definitely louder, but I wouldn't say obnoxiously so. The new jetting has made a nice difference to the overall responsiveness and power. I am also really happy with how much better she handles hills in top gear - probably a combo of the 13 tooth sprocket and the overall tune.
I am glad I got someone else to do the work for me though. There appear to have been the following "issues" with the work:
So the work ended up costing me an hour more in the end, but probably a whole lot less heartache and frustration
Can't wait to take her on the dirt this weekend now.

I am glad I got someone else to do the work for me though. There appear to have been the following "issues" with the work:
- The KLX300 slip-on was actually a little short and they struggled to fit it to the header pipe. It ended up being a 2 man job in order to pull the slip-on and header assembly together and the 2nd person tighten the clamp. I hope that doesn't end up being an issue in the future.
- Removing the mesh from the backfire filter in the airbox required cutting the mesh out while it was still in the airbox, then cleaning out the airbox and feeder pipe before putting the carb back in to nothing gets in the engine.
- The gear shifter moved up one notch actually makes it too high for my liking, so I think I am going to put it back to it's normal position and see how I go.
So the work ended up costing me an hour more in the end, but probably a whole lot less heartache and frustration

Sorry, I forgot to take close-up's, but here's the girl with her pretty new decals after the pipe fitting.

I reckon with the stock gearing and road tyres she will be really nice.
Nice new stickers!!!!
Just ordered a jet kit. Have an old staintune of a 96 KLX250 that I am going to try and see if it is any good.
Also have a 331 kit from Bill Blue on it's way so that should be fun!!!!.
And I see you got your Kouba needle. I have ordered one as well. When did it arrive?.
Does the Guy at artarmon dyno tune them or just by experience?
Cheers Patto

Lloyd does not dyno tune the bike. Not much point with our relatively simple bikes to be honest. Dynojet tell you which jet to use, and the settings of a/f screw etc are all well known in the industry now as our carb has been around a while. I am very happy with the outcome.
OK, just remembered to take some close-up pics of the slip-on, and am glad I did. Sorry the bike is still dirty (well, I'm not really, but anyway) as I did not get to clean it after I got home last night.
Here's the muffler. You can see it fits nicely with respect to the indicator, and it's had a few washers put in where it attaches to space it away from the mudguard:

Here's where it attaches, and I've just seen a problem. Clearly it is not sealing properly
Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem? Is it OK to leave it like that, or do I need to get some sort of seal sorted out to prevent any pipe damage?
