Guys has anyone heard of fitting a SXV swingarm to a KLX 250.? Seemingly you can get a wider wheel on if you use the aprilia swing arm.

Do you like fat tires? That's the only benefit of a wider tire than Kawasaki puts on either the S or the SF.

Fatter is heavier, heavier means the engine has to spin more weight. Wider means more grip on surfaces, which means more power taken to simply deal with the friction.

Motocrossers and road racers run narrow tires. For off roaders 110 in MX size which is about a 120 in normal size, on a bike with 10-15 more hp. I actually dropped from the 120 (about 4.5 wide) to go to a 4.10 (4" wide) for the ability to break it loose without bogging much when in sand, gooey mud, and when I want to slide a bit. Saves the clutch in sand for sure. Plus lighter, taking less power to rotate.

But when it comes to what you want or like, that is actually reason enough. I'm just laying out the facts in doing so. Will the fat tire work? Sure, it does on the Yamaha TW200.

If you have the swing arm try it on. You might find you need to space the CS sprocket out to suit the chain line. Seems a lot of swing arms are very similar in width at the pivot. The other question is how the shock will fit in there. I don't remember if the Aprilia shock is offset or not.

Road racers with the 250 Ninjas are likely running 140 because they don't run any more than needed, a tenth of a horsepower over the span of a road race may be valuable.

 

Fatter rear tire will decrease power, thats it, period. Remember, these bikes have less than half the HP of the euro bikes. Even those don't run fat tires. Yes, the TW has fat front and rear. But they are a very slow bike, and like a tractor in the woods, with limited type of riding which is why I sold mine.

Even if it bolts up which is unlikely without modding, you still have the shock linkage to deal with. You may be better off just buying a fat tire bike.

Like said above, I have a pretty wide rear on mine, and my next tire WILL be thinner for sure.
