Default Anyone done the 300cc mode yet?

I don't know if I can buy a 300cc Australian upgrade kit in the USA or not direct from Kawasaki but, after reading 57 frick'in pages on ADVrider, I think I could order the right parts in the USA. Anyone know what it costs on this side of the big pond?

I'm really liking the KLX-250S. I think converting a KLX-300 is too much trouble plus, I loose the electric start and it will cost around $500 more.

Will the 300cc upgrade work in the real world? For me that means running 80MPH on the street for a hour or two and then taking it off-road. I'm not going on the pro-enduro circuit so, it doesn't need to handle that level of activity for a few years at least while I build skill and confidence.

What I really want to know is, has anyone done this upgrade? What did it cost? What did it do to the bike both good and bad?

The report out of Australia that I read, commented that it vibrated more and was not balanced anymore with the factory anti-vibe stuff. I don't want a bike that makes my hands numb on the road - my wrists are bad enough as they are.

So, tell me what you think? Is it money better spent elsewhere then on the piston and "jug"? I just don't want to be doodling along at 50MPH because I'm looking at a headwind and it is too doggy to pull highway speed with my fat **** on it at 5' 6" and a ~165#'s. Sure I'll do the free/cheap stuff everyone talks about but, a $500 pipe and muffler will go a good ways to buying a larger engine.

Thanks in advance!
Sid

I run my little pig wide open on the freeway 70-80 mph. I'm am at least 45min to 1-1/2 hours to good off road stuff. I'm 5-8" pushing 200lb add 20lb of gear. Carb mods and dropped gearing seem to suite me just fine. I would love to put a pipe on it, but can't justify the price and I hate repacking mufflers. As for vibration, my KLR has enough for all three of my bikes.[sm=idontcare.gif]
